Type I Diabetes (IDDM)

Antibodies to the pancreatic islet cells of Langerhans occur almost exclusively in Type I diabetes and rarely, if ever, in Type II diabetes. Islet cell antibodies (ICA) may occur years before clinical symptoms of diabetes. ICA can be detected easily on primate pancreas substrate by Immunofluorescence. The IMMCO ICA kit is calibrated for quantitation and JDF units.
